GammaPole GX-1

Telescopic Gamma Survey Meter

A telescopic gamma and X-ray survey meter for taking dose rate readings where operators need extra reach, greater distance from the source, or access into hard-to-reach areas.

Description

The GammaPole GX-1 is a telescopic gamma and X-ray survey meter for taking dose rate readings where operators need extra reach, greater distance from the source, or access into hard-to-reach areas. The pole puts the detector into voids, pipework, ducting, overhead runs, and shielded penetrations that a handheld instrument may not reach, while helping the surveyor stay further back from the source.

A dual GM design using ZP1201/ZP1301 tubes covers 0.1 mR/h to 1000 R/h (1 µSv/h to 10 Sv/h). Readings are shown on a colour IPS display that can be set to digital, analogue, or hybrid meter modes, supporting clear reading in dim plant areas without changing instruments mid-survey.

The instrument weighs under 3.5 lbs (<1.6 kg) on a carbon fibre pole and is available in two models that differ only in pole length, the GX-1S GammaPole for short reach and the GX-1L GammaPole for long reach. Four AA alkaline cells provide up to 100 hours of continuous operation. The detector connects with a twist-and-click pole fitting designed for FME-controlled areas, and the slotted knuckle design helps prevent detector cable and connector twisting. Calibration runs through Charthouse Device Manager (CDM), keeping the workflow consistent with other Charthouse instruments.

Key Features

Reach the reading without standing next to it

The GX-1S GammaPole collapses to 28" (711 mm) and extends to 87" (2,210 mm). The GX-1L GammaPole collapses to 33" (838 mm) and extends to 142" (3,610 mm). Both models put the detector closer to the reading point while helping the operator maintain distance from the source.

Dual GM detection over a wide range

ZP1201/ZP1301 GM tubes cover 0.1 mR/h to 1000 R/h (1 µSv/h to 10 Sv/h) in one instrument. This supports both routine survey work and higher dose rate investigation without moving to a separate meter.

Readable in poor plant lighting

The colour IPS display can be set to digital, analogue, or hybrid meter modes. Large, clear readings support use in dim plant areas and at arm's length.

Lightweight telescopic design

A carbon fibre pole and total weight under 3.5 lbs (<1.6 kg) support easier handling during field surveys. The GX-1S GammaPole provides nominal 7' (2.1 m) reach, while the GX-1L GammaPole provides nominal 12' (3.7 m) reach.

Designed to be maintained, not replaced

The rugged pole and detector housing support field durability and repairability. The slotted knuckle design helps prevent detector cable and connector twisting, reducing a common source of damage.

FME optimized detector fitting

The detector connects to the pole with a twist-and-click fitting, giving a positive, tool-free connection and disconnection for FME-controlled areas.

Calibrated with the tools you already use

Calibration uses Charthouse Device Manager (CDM), keeping the procedure consistent with other Charthouse instruments already in the estate.
